The Department offers postgraduate programmes in Counselling Psychology that combine strong theoretical foundations with extensive practical training, preparing students for diverse professional roles in mental health, counselling, assessment, research, and organizational settings.
The M.Sc. Counselling Psychology programme provides comprehensive training in core areas such as Psychopathology, Research Methods and Applied Statistics, Psychometry, Behaviour Modification, Psychological Assessment, Case Analysis and Praxis of Counselling, and specialized domains including Corporate Counselling, Multicultural Counselling, Cyber Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, and Organizational Behaviour. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based counselling practices, psychological assessment, behavioural interventions, multicultural competence, and emerging mental health concerns in contemporary society.
A distinctive feature of the programme is its strong practicum orientation. Students receive intensive hands-on training through Psychological Assessment, Case Analysis and Praxis of Counselling, counselling simulations, verbatim analysis, role plays, supervised practice sessions, and administration of standardized psychological tests. The programme enables students to develop counselling skills, therapeutic competencies, assessment expertise, and professional ethics through experiential learning and supervised practice. Research training forms an integral part of the curriculum. Students are equipped with advanced knowledge in research methodology, statistical analysis, research design, proposal writing, and scientific reporting. They are encouraged to engage in research activities, present papers at conferences, and publish scholarly work in academic journals.
