Seminar on ‘Trends and Challenges in Sustaining Inter-Generational Solidarity' was organised by the MSSW in collaboration with Heritage Foundation and National Institute of Social Defence. Dr.S.Raja Samuel, Principal, MSSW,welcomed the gathering.Felicitation address delivered by Mr.A.M.Swaminathan, President of Madras School of Social Work. The Inaugural address for the day was delivered by Dr.K.R.Gangadharan, Chairman of Heritage Foundation.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by the seminar accentuated on the following topics and was dealt by the respective speakers: Introductory Remarks & International Perpectives and programmes and practices. This session was handled by Dr.K.R.Ganagadharan. Ageing in Indian Society; Implications on Income and Security. This session was dealt by Prof. Shiva Raju , Head, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad.
Constitutional provisions including MWPSC Act, 2007. This session was handled by Mr.P.V.S.Giridhar, Practicing Advocate. A session on Need for Intergenerational solidarity to Ageing in Place was handled by Dr.Ravi Samuel, Psychotherapist. These sessions were followed by a open discussion and the day concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Sri Kumar. participants from MSSW, stella Maris College, Ethical College. Patrician College, Marg Grigorius participated.
This seminar bestowed the participants with a complete knowledge with regard to elderly and related aspects . The program was coordinated by Prof. Vathani, MSSW.
