NSS Volunteers of MSSW students actively took part in the National Girl Child Day Rally held at Marina beach on 23.01.2016 (Saturday) organized by the Indian Community Welfare Organizational in association with Biker Babez .The awareness rally started at10:00 am and continued till 11:30 am. Nearly 60 NSS Volunteers of MSSW actively participated in the rally. The rally was flagged off by Mr.A.J.Hariharan, Founder secretary; ICWO. Posters were released to mark the day. Mr. T. Rufus Singh, NSS - Programme Officer, MSSW was present during the rally. Besides the NSS Volunteers of MSSW, students from various colleges took part in the rally. A sea of women set out on the streets raising slogans highlighting burning issues like declining sex ratio, violence against the girl child and quality education for all girl children. The rally stressed on the fact that educating children in the school and ethics of working will help reduce sexual harassment in work places. The volunteers also took an oath to strive for the betterment of the status of women in Indian society which instigated a sense of responsibility and awareness into the onlookers of the event. The rally ended well and proved as a satisfying and thought provoking experience to one and all.
