Department of Counseling Psychology organized workshops for PG students of HR and Counseling psychology by Dr. Federic P Bemack. Dr. Fred Bemak is a Professor and Head of the Counseling and Development Department and Director and co-founder of the Diversity Research and Action Consortium at George Mason University. His research focuses on cross-cultural psychology, social justice counseling, group counseling, post-conflict and post-disaster mental health, counseling at-risk youth, and school counseling.
For HR students:
He highlighted the importance of counseling skills for HR professionals through role play. He helped the students in enhancing the knowledge about how to connect with people with similar values. He clarified the students about the significance of verbal and nonverbal communications in work spot. It helped the students to understand problems with employee’s perspective.
For Psychology Students:
As these students were already exposed to individual counseling, group counseling techniques were taught to them. Role play helped the students to understand facilitation of group. He shared his personal experience. Workshop helped them in enhancing their knowledge, skills and abilities in counseling field.
