The Post Graduate Department of Development Management organized a two-day National Conference on the theme: “Accelerating Technology for Development”. The conference was conducted on 9.3.2018 (Friday) and 10.03.2018 (Saturday). Prominent personalities in the field of technology shared their expertise with the student community at Madras School of Social Work. These include,

The speakers share a treasure of knowledge in various subthemes such as, Security & Surveillance in a Developing Economy, Information, Education and Communication as a Catalyst, Automation Crisis in India and Future of Technology in Development. The conference witnessed participation from professionals, students and volunteers from across the state. German Volunteers working in various NGOs in Chennai also participated in the conference.
The conference was a great learning experience for the young development professionals. They realized that technology instead of enhancing human living experience; it is manipulated to fulfill the greed of certain elites. The students felt that much progress has to be made to regulate use of technology in such a way it contributes to sustainability of human life and not to replace it.
