The Social Incubation Centre of the PG Department of Social Entrepreneurship of Madras School of Social Work conducted its second event on the Status of Education in India on the 23rd of November 2017. Dr. A. Ravishankar was the guest speaker for the event that was held between 3:30PM to 5:30 PM in the Conference Hall inside the college premises. About 30 students from other departments attended this lecture. Dr. A. Ravishankar is the chief executive officer of Chudar, a non-profit initiative to improve the quality of education for middle and high school children from underprivileged backgrounds. He holds a Ph.D in engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.Tecg from IIT, Madras. He spoke about the state of education in our country and what should be done to improve the quality of education received by students of underprivileged backgrounds and what can be done by students to change the status of education in India. He also told us about his organisation and what they do to improve the quality of education among the government schools in Chennai. Dr. A. Ravishankar also extended his support to the institution and the students of the institution by offering internship for students of the college.
