A workshop on RTI Act – 2005 was conducted by 2016 batch BSW students of Madras School of Social Work, Egmore, Chennai. The resource person was Mr. C. Anand Raj, Health activist and Founder – Equal Right NGO, Madurai who uses RTI act to deal with the issues in government health sector. The event was presided over by Mr.S.Xavier Vivek Jerry, Assistant Professor, BSW department, MSSW. The program started at 9:30am.
In the morning session, focus was given to introduction to RTI, its purpose and importance. Successful stories, case studies and achievements were shared by the resource person who was inspiring and motivating. The process of filing RTI petition through register post and online mode, strategies and techniques to be followed while asking questions were shared by the resource person. Afternoon, the students were divided into five groups and they prepared questions to seek information. The questions were presented and discussed. The workshop ended at 5:30pm. 50 students of MSSW attended this Workshop. Certificates were distributed to all the participants.
