The 65th Batch of Freshers joining the Madras School of Social Work had a very warm welcome on the 21st of June 2017. The Program commenced with the Tamizhthai Vazthu.
The welcome address by the Principal Dr. S. Raja Samuel traced the glorious history and roots of the college and its Founder Mary Clubwala Jadhav. Her selfless contribution , the yeomen service that she rendered to the community and the stellar track record that she created in social work and bequethed the same legacy to the College were all highlighted in his speech.
Dr. A. M. Swaminathan in his Presidential speech desired the students to retain their uniqueness. He called them the shining stars in the dazzling constellation which constituted the MSSW Institution.
Mr.S. Muralidharan, Chief People Officer,Equitas and one of the Guests of Honour, while sharing his own experiences asked the students to" unlearn" all that they had learnt so far and to embark on a new journey of Learning.
Dr. V. Thirumagal, who shared the dias with Mr. Muralidharan as a Guest of Honour, recollected her own learning experience as a student of MSSW and had this sage advice to offer to the students.She asked them not to be cowed down by failure. She opined that every failure was but a learning curve and urged the students not to cut corners and to be uncompromising where ethics were concerned .
The event drew to a close with the Vote of Thanks rendered by Dr. Jayanthi Peters . She recapitulated the salient points made by the speakers and thanked the members on the dias ,faculty and students, wishing the newcomers all the very best in their endeavours.
